AMD Processors: 3 Recommendations for any Budget

Remember…. You heard it here first! In our previous blog regarding the Intel processor shortage, we mooted AMD as a credible alternative for buyers who do not have a preference, when it comes to which chips powers their new device.

AMD has been dominating the market of late with their AMD Ryzen 2nd Generation processor, and all indicators point to this continuing with the launch of the new 3rd Generation of the Ryzen chip.

In response to AMD’s attempt to capture the flag, Intel has instigated counter measures with the launch of it’s 9th Gen Coffee Lake processors, including the Corei9-900K.

While these two corporations battle for supremacy, us mere mortals still need to figure out which processor is the best option for our needs.

Identifying the right processor can be difficult, (or maybe not, with Intel’s shortage). our blog this week shares some expert recommendations relating to AMD processors, which one will suit your needs.

Best CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X

Historically, AMD have been chasing Intel. Those days are now over with the launch of the Ryzen 2700X.

This time around AMD delivers the first 12nm processor with the performance to back it up, demolishing Intel when it comes to price / performance metrics.

If you need a high performing processor that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, you can’t do much better than the Ryzen 7 2700X.

Best mid-range CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X

If you’re looking for one of the best processors for content creation, but are on a budget, look no further than the AMD Ryzen 5 2600X. With 6 cores and 12 threads and a base clock of 3.6GHz, you’re getting greater performance than the pricier Intel Core i5-8600K – with an RGB CPU cooler included.

Best Entry Level CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 2200G

If you are on the tightest budget, the AMD Ryzen 3 2200G can do you a lot a favours. While it doesn’t feature the hyperthreading capability of its predecessor, the Ryzen 3 1200, the introduction of integrated graphics ensures the Ryzen 32200G packs a great punch above its weight.
