PFH announces new Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) solution

PFH Technology Group has today announced a new Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) solution using Datto technology.

The DRaaS service is a full managed service for disaster recovery and backup and will be managed centrally from the PFH Datto portal.

“We have carried out extensive testing on the solution and are now ready to launch the product to our clients. This is an all-in-one solution for Backup, DR and Ransomware” said James Delaney, Service Delivery Manager at PFH.

“Since each backup is a fully bootable virtual machine, there is no need for complex, time-consuming conversion processes before performing a restore as there is no backup chain to process. Traditional backup technology takes an initial full system backup, and then records the changes in a linked list. The Datto Solution Combines local and cloud infrastructure to boot an entire server infrastructure on the local SIRIS NAS, or hybrid via Datto’s secure cloud, you can be back up and running as fast as the images can boot. The full environment is managed through the PFH Datto partner portal”.

“PFH have partnered with Datto to offer a cost-effective cloud backup and disaster recovery solution in the Irish market place. The service is delivered from our Infrastructure Management Centre based in Cork”.

Datto DRaaS offers the failover capabilities of traditional remote replication at a much lower price point. Clients purchase the Datto NAS upfront and then pay a monthly subscription fee based on the amount of data they are storing in the cloud.

The PFH solution is based on the number of servers and the amount of data being backed up.

“Compare that with the facilities, personnel and technology expenses associated with setting up a secondary data center and the value of recovery-in-place and DRaaS is apparent. Historically it was difficult and potentially risky process to carry our DR testing. Datto technologies and services have greatly eased the testing process” he added.

“Because of the ease in which virtual servers can be created, users can set up DR test environments without the risk of harming production systems”.

“The PFH team will monitor the backup and replication on a daily basis and will carry out a full DR test annually as part of the service. PFH will design and tailor a DR solution to meet any requirements and price points and recovery objectives. The Solution is suitable for SME’s to enterprise clients and can scale from 1TB to 120TB’s of data” he concluded.
