The Samsung CHG90 Monitor was released earlier this year and at 49-inches, it’s the widest monitor on the market.
I know what you’re thinking ‘Who on earth needs a monitor this wide?’.
The same was said in the early 2000s when square 4:3 TV’s and monitors were starting to get replaced by 16:9 screens.
16:9 is now considered the standard monitor aspect ratio.
In 2015 the industry started producing “ultrawide” 21:9 monitors which gave even more screen for the workforce and gave PC gamers an extra layer of immersion.
Now, Samsung have released the ‘super-ultrawide’ CHG90 monitor which has an aspect ratio of 32:9. That’s two 16:9 “standard” widescreen monitors combined into one.
Apart from being incredibly wide, the CHG90 does pack power.
It’s resolution of 3840 x 1080 isn’t too far off 4k resolution (3840 x 2160) whilst the monitor also incorporates Samsung’s Dot Technology which provides incredible colours, contrast and brightness.
Add into the mix HDR (High Dynamic Range) and it leaves you with an incredible picture.
There is also the possibility of being able to connect two devices to the monitor at the same time via two HDMI inputs.
The curve. It’s all about the curve.
Curved screens have been a credible option for the last 12 months but Samsung have taken it to the next level.
The CHG90 spans over a ground breaking 49-inch curved screen which fills your field of view.
The screen is surrounded by a crisp black coal outline which doesn’t protrude your vision.
Even the stand has been taken into account. A Y-shaped structure which adds an appropriate finishing touch to ensure the user experience won’t be tainted.
The big elephant in the room is whether this monitor is appropriate for the workplace.
Originally targeted towards the gaming community, the CHG90 is capable of so much more than just being a gaming monitor.
